Masculinity

Mike Liguori – Forgiving Your Father

Before you ask, yes, I’m on the road and recorded the intro in my car. This was an incredible conversation on a very powerful topic: forgiveness. Specifically how a man—and IF a man—should forgive his father. Mike and I get into his latest book on this topic, and dive deep into the meaning and role of a dad in a son’s life. Listen in!

Men’s Work Session – Healing Your Relationship To Anger

(Apologies in advance, something was up with the audio for this one) Now and then, I put out the call and feature a session with someone I’ve never worked with before. This work took place over the course of an hour or so, and we’ve shorted it here for easier listening.

My guest today is someone who grew up in a hostile environment, and his end result as an adult was a feeling of numbness and a hard time recognizing the emotions he felt. We work to identify and give voice to what he’s feeling, particularly his anger and sadness.

I’ve wrestled with numbness too, and I’m sure there are a lot of guys out there in similar situations. So listen in and don’t forget to share with someone you feel might benefit from this kind of work.

GS Youngblood – The Art Of Embodiment

I’ve recently had a lot of men ask me about embodiment. What does it mean? Why does that term get thrown around so much? Hot on the heels of last week’s episode with John Wineland (another embodiment coach) comes GS Youngblood, a friend of mine who’s been working and coaching embodiment practices for years.

This is a great episode if you want to truly get a feel for what embodiment means, how it’s practiced, and why it’s so effective. GS even takes me through a short, two minute “sample” practice. We also dig into how embodiment can help with sex, desire discrepancy, overwhelm, and more.

GS Youngblood coaches men in relationship and how to live, love, and lead from their masculine core. He has been a student and creator in the fields of men’s work for over a decade. Through this lens of masculine leadership, he also pulls in principles from a variety of fields: psychology, martial arts, tango, meditation, and BDSM. All of his writings are filtered through the laboratory of his and his clients’ real-world, long-term relationships (including both the successes and spectacular failures) to see what actually works and what doesn’t.

John Wineland – Integration, Your Masculine Core, And How To Embody It All

Is there anything better than having an old friend on your podcast? John is a brilliant and passionate mind in the realm of masculine wellness, and we cover a ton of ground here. What “integration” actually means, John’s new book, why disconnect and fear can be so damaging, the temptation to just layer new knowledge on top of old patterns. This is a big one, so listen in.

Known for his groundbreaking work with men, John travels world-wide teaching his vision of embodied men’s work and deep relational practice.  In 2014, he founded The New Men’s Work Project, which has attracted men from around the world looking to develop as leaders in their relationships and communities. The Project is committed to the staggering goal of creating 1000 men’s groups worldwide in the next ten years and has already supported trainings and groups throughout Europe and the U.S.  John’s clients include entrepreneurs, leading thinkers in the world of personal development and entertainment, Ted speakers and creative leaders in Hollywood.

John brings a multi-faceted approach, which is both energetic and highly practical, to his workshops and experiential coaching sessions. John’s embodiment-driven teaching draws from not only over 30 years experience of his own Buddhist meditative practice, but from 13 years intensive study and practice with renowned Yogic Intimacy teacher, David Deida.  Drawing from Deida’s revolutionary framework, as well as the deep lineages of Vajrayana, Tantra, Kundalini yoga, Taoist and Iron Shirt Qigong traditions, John seeks to create a profound experience for men and women longing to express their deepest desires with open, fierce and loving hearts.

John’s work has been featured on multiple podcast and publications; including Zen Habits, The Elephant Journal, Sex with Emily, Man Talks, The Good Men Project and Love TV.  John’s first book, The Art of Masculine Leadership, will be available June 2022.  He will also be traveling throughout Europe and the U.S. leading workshops on embodied men’s work, spiritual intimacy and sexual practice.

Jack Donovan – The Way Of Men

To put it bluntly, this was quite the conversation. I’ve found Jack Donovan’s work to be both challenging, compelling, and ultimately fascinating—and it’s not for the faint of heart. So naturally, I wanted him on the show. Listen in as Jack and I dig into what men of today are facing, modern culture’s perspective on masculinity, balancing responsibility and freedom, the role of fathers, and of course, what really are the core tactical and mythic components of “masculinity” as a concept.

Jack Donovan has been writing and speaking about masculinity, masculine philosophy and spirituality for over a decade. His foundational book, The Way of Men, has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide and has been translated into French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Polish. His most recent book, Fire in the Dark, presents a primal system of masculine roles and shows how those roles have been repeated again and again throughout the history of myth and religion.

Donovan is an occasional speaker and often appears on podcasts to discuss masculinity and the challenges faced by men who want to live masculine lives in the 21st Century.

In 2021, he founded CHEST Magazine with Tanner Guzy to create an alternative to mainstream men’s magazines. CHEST features interviews with courageous and important American men who are speaking up for men and standing against the forces of chaos and darkness that threaten freedom.
