You’ve done what men do. You kept moving. You built something. You showed up — for work, for your family, for everyone who needed something from you. And you got very good at making it look like it’s working.
But there’s a version of you that hasn’t been seen in a long time. Maybe ever. The man underneath the role. The one who’s tired of performing, tired of managing everyone else’s experience, tired of reaching for connection and coming up empty — or getting walked on when he tries.
You know how to produce. You don’t know how to rest. You know how to push through. You don’t know how to feel without fixing. You’ve built a life that looks like success and feels like a sentence.
I know that place. Not from a textbook — from the inside. I spent years running the same patterns: performing, proving, staying busy enough to avoid what was underneath. The turning point wasn’t a conversation. It was the first time I sat with something uncomfortable long enough to understand where it came from — and realized I didn’t have to keep carrying it. Therapy gave me that. That experience is in the room with us every time.
I’m a licensed mental health counselor with more than 25 years of clinical experience. I work with men specifically — on anxiety, relationships, identity, and the places where high performance and real connection stop making sense together.
What we do together is direct and practical. We look at the patterns driving your behavior — the stories you inherited, the ways you learned to protect yourself, the coping that worked once and doesn’t anymore. We trace it back to where it was installed, and we build something different in its place. Grounded work. The kind that actually transfers to your life outside this room. I won’t mistake motion for growth.
You’re not broken. You’re carrying patterns that were never yours to begin with. When you’re ready to put them down — I’m here.
Philip J. Fauerbach, MS, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor with more than 25 years of clinical experience helping men, couples, adolescents, and families navigate anxiety, relationship strain, trauma, emotional shutdown, and major life transitions.
Philip has been in full-time private practice since 2004. His background includes leadership roles in child protective services, foster care, adoption, and community mental health. Early in his career, he specialized in pediatric mental health, play therapy, and adolescent development, giving him a strong foundation in family systems, attachment, and developmental psychology.
His clinical training includes advanced work in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, including training through the Center for Cognitive Therapy in Philadelphia, where he trained with Judith Beck and supervised a case with Aaron T. Beck. He is also trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction, with extensive experience helping clients work through trauma and post-traumatic stress symptoms.
Philip has completed a 12-week training on working with men through Connor Beaton and ManTalks and is a member of the ManTalks Alliance. His work with men is also informed by the Gottman Method, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, nervous-system regulation, and decades of direct clinical experience.
Today, Philip specializes in counseling men who are successful in their work but feel
disconnected in their relationships, marriages, families, or inner lives. His approach is practical, direct, and non-shaming. He helps men understand how stress, anxiety, old survival patterns, anger, and emotional shutdown affect connection.
Through his REAL Connection Reset™ framework, Philip teaches men how to regulate their nervous system, communicate with clarity, rebuild emotional connection, and lead their lives with calm authority instead of control, avoidance, or reactivity.
“I’ve been to Phil off and on over the last year. I went through a messy divorce and needed some guidance.”
I always knew that counseling was a good thing, but the fear of the unknown kept me from walking in the door. I’m glad I let my guard down and made my first appointment. Phil’s soft demeanor always makes me feel at home. I’m comfortable talking to him about any and everything. From my current relationship, to the relationship I have with my teenage daughter. He helps me navigate the twists and turns of day-to-day life. I always leave feeling energized and better than when I first walk in.
If you’ve been considering speaking with a licensed mental health counselor about anxiety, insomnia, trauma or depression, but aren’t sure if it’s right for you, then I highly encourage you to make an appointment with Phil. He’s helped me grow in ways I didn’t even realize were possible. Go get the tools you need to navigate life confidently – make an appointment with Phil!! Your future self will thank you.
“Phil provided me with excellent guidance and very useful, simple tools over the past few years that DEFINITELY helped improve my relationship with my teenage son.”
My stressful job (in commercial construction) and all of the other day-to-day pressures kept me on edge, and as my son entered high school we had been clashing with increasing frequency.
As I began following Phil’s calm and logical recommendations for having better interactions with my son, the benefits were shortly noticed by other members of my family too (wife, daughter, etc.). I also observed improvements in my rapport with work colleagues and other business contacts which was an unanticipated benefit. Most importantly, my son and I communicate regularly now while he is away at college and we have a excellent time whenever we’re together.
I still use many of Phil’s tools daily, and my whole family is so glad that I had the
opportunity to benefit from his coaching.
“If 10 stars were an option, that’s what I would rate Philip. This guy has changed my life on so many levels. I feel alive again!”
If you’ve been to several other therapists as I have and you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere, do yourself a huge favor and book Philip. He truly gets it and actually cares. I can’t recommend this guy enough. When I first saw him I was a floater. I was going through life just surviving day to day, stuck doing the same things over and over again. Thanks to this man, my life is meaningful again and I can move forward.
Thank you Philip. You’ve shown me a world worth fighting for and I am forever grateful!
